Wow. So with a game like this and with fellow Rig writer Alex Thomas currently in Edmonton he can never leave. Right?
The Oilers swept the season series vs the Boston Bruins with a 7-4 win on Thursday night in one of the more entertaining games of the year. The captain and Patty Maroon had big nights while once again the offensive output was there to pick up a big two points.
Remember moral victories? Yeah me neither.
-Connor McDavid and Patrick Maroon deserve their jerseys retired right now. Move aside the Garth Brooks banner. McDavid and Maroon along with Leon Draisaitl are now the team leaders in goals.

(Seriously, the play to find Maroon is nuts as Connor would have three helpers in this one).
-The dudes in orange and blue had to stay aggressive after being up 3-0 (Benoit Pouliot come on down to the goal scoring party too!), as David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand scored to cut the lead to a one goal game. Sitting back early will hurt this team come playoff time. Marchand leading the NHL this late with 37 goals makes me shake my fist at this being dead puck era 2.0.
-Maroon and Adam McQuaid had quite the tilt. Remind me, dear readers, to never get myself in a situation where I’m trading knuckles with Mr.Maroon.
-Anton Slepyshev let the home fans breathe a little as he’d put home his fourth of the season to send the teams to the dressing room with Edmonton up 4-2.
-14 goals in the past two games for the Oilers !!!!
#Oilers have scored at least 7 goals in back-to-back home games for the 1st time since Dec 4 (W, 10-6 vs NYR) & Dec 7 (W, 8-3 vs QUE), 1988

-When was the last time a team was THIS undisciplined vs Edmonton as the Bruins in the first forty minutes were shorthanded five times.
-Brad Marchand again is someone that has to be kept in check as he’d get an assist on a David Krejci powerplay goal. With the helper he’s now tied at the top of the league points race with #97 at 79 points.
-Ryan Nugent Hopkins, Leon Draisitl and Milan Lucic would score and Boston would add two others as we’d head to the third with this one 7-4 Edmonton.
-No scoring in the third frame but Boston wasn’t able to get back into this one, game set and match as the Oilers jump back into third in the Pacific Division with 83 points.
-Congrats to Drai on setting the record for most points in a single season by a German born and trained player with 61!
-Seriously, Alex is not allowed to go back to Boston.
PLAYER OF THE GAME
I’ll give this one to Mr. Maroon for his two goal night, Ever since coming over to the Oilers at last season’s trade deadline he’s been such a spark on offense, AND THEY ONLY GAVE UP A PICK AND MARTIN GERNAT FOR HIM FROM ANAHEIM HAHAHAH WHAT A DEAL.
-Never change, Gene.

-Watching Darnell Nurse on the blueline truly is a treat. Imagine if he was healthy for the full season? A very bright future for him as an Oiler.
-Cam Talbot picked up his 35th win of the season and five more wins will join Grant Fuhr as only the 2nd Oiler netminder to record 40 wins in a season.
The homestand rolls on as the Oilers are in action against the Vancouver Canucks in the late game on Hockey Night in Canada. With the way things have been going lately, it may be a long night for Willie Desjardins’ boys at Rogers Place.
